Terms of Service

1. What the Service is

traql is software for anti-money-laundering (AML) screening and fraud prevention. You submit a public blockchain address or transaction hash on a supported network (Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, TRON, TON, Bitcoin) and the Service returns a risk score from 0 to 100, a risk band, and an itemised list of the signals behind it — sanctions list matches, links to known incidents and stolen funds, mixer and scam exposure, issuer freezes, and traced counterparty exposure.

The Service is delivered as a web application, a REST API and a Telegram bot. It is sold on a pay-per-check basis, with no subscription.

2. What the Service is not

To be unambiguous about scope, traql is not any of the following:

  • not a cryptocurrency exchange, broker or trading venue;
  • not a custodial or non-custodial wallet, and it never holds, transmits or takes custody of your funds or your private keys;
  • not an investment, tax or legal advisory service, and nothing it outputs is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any asset;
  • not a money services business, and it does not process payments between users;
  • not a replacement for your own regulatory obligations — including KYC, customer due diligence, sanctions screening of persons, suspicious activity reporting, or record keeping.

The Service produces a screening signal. Deciding what to do with that signal remains entirely yours.

3. Your account

  • You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter into this agreement.
  • You must give a working email address and verify it. Unverified accounts cannot run checks.
  • You are responsible for your password and for everything done through your account. Tell us at [email protected] if you suspect unauthorised access.
  • One person or organisation, one account. Creating multiple accounts to collect the free check allowance repeatedly is a breach of these terms.
  • You may not use the Service if you are subject to sanctions, or if you are located in a jurisdiction where using it would be unlawful.

4. Checks and balance

A "check" is one screening request — one address, or one transaction. Your account holds a single balance of checks, spent by the web checker and by your API keys alike. New verified accounts receive a free allowance (currently 3 checks). The Telegram bot keeps its own separate balance and its own free allowance.

Purchased checks do not expire. A request that fails through our fault — an internal error, a chain data source we could not reach — is not charged. A request that returns a valid verdict is charged, including a verdict of "no risk found": you are paying for the screening, not for a particular answer.

Balances are for use within the Service. They are not money, not a stored-value instrument, not transferable between accounts, and cannot be exchanged for cash except through the refund process in section 6.

5. Payment

Pack prices are shown on the pricing section in US dollars and are payable by crypto invoice through our payment provider, NOWPayments. Your balance is credited automatically once the payment confirms on-chain. In the Telegram bot, packs may also be paid with Telegram Stars.

Keyless API calls may be paid per request in USDC on the Base network using the x402 protocol, at the per-call prices published in the API documentation. Pay-as-you-go pricing is higher per check than any pack — you are paying for not needing an account.

Prices exclude any taxes that may apply to you. You are responsible for your own tax position. Blockchain network fees are yours and are not part of the price. Because crypto payments are irreversible, please check the amount and network before you send.

6. Refunds

Unused checks can be refunded within 14 days of purchase. The full terms, including how to request one and how the refund is paid, are in our Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service:

  • to stalk, harass, dox, or otherwise target an individual, or to attempt to identify a natural person behind an address other than in the course of legitimate compliance, investigative or fraud-prevention work;
  • to help anyone evade sanctions, launder money, or conceal the origin of funds — including by using our results to test whether illicit funds would pass a screening;
  • to scrape, bulk-extract or systematically copy our scoring data in order to build or train a competing dataset or model;
  • to resell, sublicense or white-label the Service or its output as your own product without a written agreement with us;
  • to circumvent rate limits, payment, or the free allowance — including through multiple accounts, shared keys or automated sign-ups;
  • to attack, overload, probe or reverse-engineer the Service, or to interfere with anyone else's use of it;
  • in breach of any applicable law, including data protection and sanctions law.

You may show a verdict to your own users or include it in your own reports, provided you do not present traql's output as your own proprietary analysis and you do not strip the disclaimers in section 9.

8. API keys and limits

You issue, rotate and revoke your own API keys in the dashboard. The secret is shown once and we cannot recover it. Keys are yours to protect: requests made with your key are treated as made by you, and checks they spend come off your balance.

Rate limits apply and are documented in the API documentation. We may adjust them to protect the Service; where a change would materially affect you, we will give notice.

9. Accuracy and disclaimers

traql provides a probabilistic screening signal, not a statement of fact and not legal, financial, tax or compliance advice.

Scores are derived from public sanctions lists, stablecoin issuer freeze events, community scam feeds, curated incident datasets, registries of mixers, exchanges and routers, on-chain tracing and behavioural heuristics. Those sources can be incomplete, delayed or wrong, and on-chain data can be ambiguous. As a result:

  • a high score does not prove that anyone did anything unlawful;
  • a low score, or "no risk found", does not prove that funds are clean — it means we found no matching signal at that moment;
  • results change over time as sources are updated, so a verdict is accurate as of when it was produced;
  • false positives and false negatives will occur.

You must exercise your own judgement and, where your obligations require it, your own independent verification before acting on a result. The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the fullest extent the law allows, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement. We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation.

We name public data sources and third-party services descriptively, to identify the origin of a signal. This does not imply that any of them endorses, sponsors or is affiliated with traql.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, nor for lost profits, lost funds, lost business, lost data, or losses arising from a decision you made on the basis of a screening result.

Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 3 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) 50 US dollars.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence. If you are a consumer, your mandatory statutory rights are unaffected.

11. Intellectual property

The Service, its scoring methodology, its interface and the traql name and marks are ours. These terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Service in accordance with them — nothing more.

Verdicts we produce for you are yours to use for your own compliance, business and reporting purposes, subject to section 7.

12. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from the dashboard. Deleting the account forfeits any remaining balance unless you have already requested a refund under the Refund Policy.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms, that we reasonably believe is being used unlawfully, or that puts the Service at risk. Where it is safe and lawful to do so we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right. If we terminate an account without cause, we will refund the unused balance in full.

13. Changes to the Service and these terms

We develop the Service continuously: sources, scoring, limits and prices can change. Price changes never apply retroactively to checks you have already bought.

If we change these terms materially, we will update the date at the top of this page and notify account holders by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new terms.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of the place where the operator of traql is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection afforded by the mandatory law of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in the courts there.

Before formal proceedings, please write to [email protected] — most things are resolved faster that way.

If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in force. Our not enforcing a provision is not a waiver of it.
